Freeride and freestyle skis
Free Ride
“WHEN IT COMES TO BIG MOUNTAIN JIBBING, SKIING REALLy BECOMES A CREATIVE FORM OF ART. FOR ME
THAT’S THE MOMENT WHEN yOU’RE REALLy FREE.” — MAGNUS LOO, VöLKL INTERNATIONAL TEAM —
When guts, skill and imagination meet, freedom is just around the corner. In the shape of the new Gotama,
a tool for achieving backcountry nirvana has finally come along. Our cult ski has gotten even better and
more versatile: gentle rockered shape, innovative 3-section flex, new sidecut, classy look with glossy
surface and a real wooden Buddha. In short: the new Gotama is an extremely sporty piece of freeride
equipment, ready for top speeds and freestyle moves. The Chopstick also embodies the best in BCJ. A
hot mix of park and powder skiing at the top level: symmetric sidecut, butter zone construction, multi
layer woodcore – making this sushi fan a tasty treat for freestylers with a fondness for rough terrain. The
Cosmo holds particular appeal for girls who want to have fun out in the park jibbing with the big boys. A
powerful ski that is perfectly adapted for the ‘fairer’ sex, as suited to hard action as it is to cruising on the
slopes and spray turns in the powder.
Rocker Technology

 |
 |
Round shape throughout
The rocker models from Völkl provide a round arc line throughout – no
kinks – to provide full edge contact. That guarantees balanced energy
transmission and ensures perfect steering precision, even at high speed. |
Adjusted ski firmness
The 3-section flex makes the ski somewhat firmer up front, moderate at
the waist, and soft in the tail. The ski doesn‘t need to bend so strongly up
front – the rocker shape is enough to provide precise maneuverability in
the powder. The firmer structure prevents ‚overflex‘, keeping the ski light
and agile even in the most difficult ski conditions. In addition to this, the
softer flex in the tail makes the ski more turn-friendly. The distribution of
firmness is optimally adjusted for each rocker ski. |
Rocker -specific sidecuts
We‘ve taken each rockered ski and readjusted the sidecut to match the
intended use, putting an extra emphasis on each model‘s ride: deep
powder characteristics for the Kuro, a big mountain and speed setup for
the Katana, freestyle features for the Chopstick. Mega-variety for the
Gotama, Kuku (women) and Gotama jr., the first rockered ski in the
junior line. |
Lower tip shape
The more defined the rocker, the flatter the ski tip. Our powder shredders
don‘t need high ski tips to avoid tip dives in the deep snow. Their
rocker profile is enough to keep them floating. That‘s why the shovels on
the Kuro, Gotama and Katana are significantly shallower, which in turn
means less snow resistance and higher speeds. |

“The Bridge is my ideal all -mountain ski . Rails , jumps , pipe – I can use it to do it all and it ’s
alwa ys great . Ideal shape , simple to control and unbelievabl y stable on the landing .”— RUSS HENSHAW, Völkl International Team —
Attention please! We would like to introduce our new slopestyle models. The Wall is a pro model for
park & pipe. A bit firmer in the flex, very exact in the steering. The darling of our team riders has gotten
a little lighter this year. The somewhat wider Bridge is the ideal link: whether in the park, backcountry
jibbing or taking a turn through the powder lines, it radiates top quality performance. The Ledge is the
king of the terrain parks and rails and features street-art. Its |
